eating in bed

A question: do you eat in bed?

I never, ever do. I find this strange, since I love sleeping in almost as much as I love food. But even thinking about mixing bed and food together makes me irritable. I would even freak out if someone ate next to me in bed. Fingernails on a chalkboard, that.

Now the couch and food, on the other hand ... perfectly gratifying.

Sourdough-Chocolate bread? That sounds like the best thing since, eh, sliced bread. Mmm.

Me, I never eat in bed. I like my sheets crisp, clean, and crumb free. I call it the 3 C's. When I get the craving for a midnight snack, I head to the kitchen and eat there. Perhaps it is that I am impatient, and need instant culinary gratification.

I, too, live by the Three Cs. If I need a midnight snack, I eat it in the kitchen, in the dark, over the sink. Maybe this makes it feel more punishable and, therefore, exciting. Eating in bed seems so ... flagrant.

In fact, if I caught my man eating in bed, especially eating something crumbly in bed, he'd be carbo loading on the couch faster than you can say Zingerman's.

A neurosis revealed.
